Prescriptions
Ordering Repeat Prescriptions
The easiest way to order repeat prescriptions are:
- Using your NHS account (on the NHS website or in the NHS app)
- Complete our online form
- Come into the practice and our team will help you face to face
- Asking your pharmacy directly to order it for you
Only order medications that you need and if you have less than 7 days of medication remaining.
We are not currently accepting prescriptions requests over the phone except for vulnerable or elderly patients.
Collecting Your Prescription
You can collect your prescription from the pharmacy 3 to 5 working days after you have ordered it.
You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your medicine from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.

You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescriptions from. We call this a nominated pharmacy.
Collect your prescription
You can usually collect your prescription from the pharmacy 2 working days after you have ordered it.
Change your Pharmacy
You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time.
By using our online system, at the GP practice, or at any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions.
Questions About Your Prescription
If you have questions about your medication, your local pharmacists can help you. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

- answers to your common questions
If you would like to speak to someone at the GP surgery about your prescription, you can book a routine appointment with the practice pharmacist by:

About Pharmacists
As qualified healthcare professionals, they can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:
- Coughs
- Colds
- Sore throats
- Tummy trouble
- Aches and pains
They can also discuss on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.
Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.
Most pharmacies have a private room. This means you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.
Medication Reviews
If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to come in for a regular review. We will be in touch when you need to come in for a review.

What to do with old medicines
Take it to the pharmacy you got it from or bring it in to the surgery. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.

Why can't I call to order my prescriptions over the phone?
Lots of mistakes can happen due to poor phone lines, wrong doses asked for, and wrong quantities. That is why we ask for prescription requests in writing?
Why can't I get my prescriptions on the same day?
When you put in a prescription request our admin team take a look and see if they can issue, if they cant they have to pass it onto the practice pharmacist, who then see if they can issue. The prescription then needs to be signed by a doctor. So three different people need to be involved and that takes time.
Why can't the doctor issue my prescription?
Sometimes the doctor needs to check certain things like blood test before issuing a prescription. They will contact you, via SMS, email or phone and ask you to come in for whatever tests are required. Please do contact us back as soon as possible so we can help you get your prescription in time.
Do the nurses give pregnant ladies vaccines?
Absolutely our nurses give both Flu vaccines and Whooping Cough (Pertusis) vaccines to our patients.
Can I get Maternity Exemption Certificates and Matb1 forms from the practice?
Yes we give both of these. Please ask your GP and they can sign both of these forms for you. You can also ask admin team and they will arrange for a GP to sign it for you.
Can I make an appointment via calling the practice?
Yes you can call the practice and book an appointment.
What times are reception open?
We offer an open reception and telephone service from 8am to 6:30pm from Monday to Friday.
Why do your receptionists ask me questions before I book?
Our receptionists are trained in care navigation and signposting and can provide advice about appropriate alternative services such as Extended Access Hubs.
What do I do if I am running late for my appointment?
Patients are expected to arrive in good time for their appointments, taking into account journey times when booking appointments. We offer a 10-minute consultation time for each booked appointment. We do understand that an occasional delay is unavoidable therefore if a patient arrives within a reasonable time then the clinician will see them.
If patients arrive more than 10 minutes late, they have missed their appointment and will need to rebook on another day. This is to prevent delays to the GP sessions and to ensure fairness for patients who have arrived on time.
If a patient calls ahead to say they will be late, this does not alter the policy.
How do I give feedback regarding your appointment system?
We aim to provide the best access we can for our patients. If you have any questions or suggestions please ask a member of staff or ask to speak to the practice manager.
